Aberdeen FC fans have overwhelmingly backed plans to move to an out-of-city stadium at Kingsford.
Official supporters group, Dons Supporters Together (DST), carried out an online poll which showed 75% of supporters are in favour of the move.
Some 2,556 fans completed a more detailed survey to gather opinion on aspects of the development, including transport and parking; stadium design; match-day experience; atmosphere; and funding.
DST said, however, that while the majority of respondents back the move, challenges clearly exist.
The availability of funding for the new complex has been widely questioned since the plans were announced but the survey has indicated that fans have faith in non-traditional streams including the selling of stadium naming rights – backed by 76% of respondents.
Some 40% said they would even pledge funds themselves.
Safe-standing – recently introduced by Celtic and popular across Europe – would be welcomed by 70% and 75% want an emphasis to be placed on a family-friendly experience.
Gordon Duncan, media representative of DST, said:
It is always our intention to represent a consensus opinion of the Aberdeen fans, to give them a voice that has a positive influence on the decisions that affect them.
With such a considerable sample size and quality input from the respondents, we are sure that the findings of the survey will paint a clear picture of what supporters want from a facility that is designed to serve them and their football club.
DST representatives met with Aberdeen FC to present the findings directly for consideration.
Aberdeen FC Vice Chairman, George Yule, commented:
We are grateful to DST for the ongoing hard work that they undertake on behalf of our supporters.
It is satisfying to see that the results of this comprehensive survey very much mirror the feedback that the Club has received at the recent public consultations and, as they involve such a substantial number of fans, the survey results will help assist greatly as we begin the process of putting together a more detailed application for the proposed facilities at Kingsford.
The results will also be added to the feedback we have received during this consultation period.
