Absen lights up Crystal Ice Arena

The 29th Winter Universiade opened on March 2 in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk in  Eastern Siberia.

The event is scheduled to take place from March 2 to 12 in 11 sports venues including the Crystal Ice Arena, which is equipped with 11 pieces of cutting-edge 6.25mm LED screens from Absen.

Built for the Winter Universiade 2019, the Crystal Ice Arena is located in Krasnoyarsk city and covers 42,854m2 with capacity for 3,500 spectators.

The ice arena will host the men’s Ice Hockey tournament which started on March 1, as well as matches for gold and bronze medals between women’s ice hockey teams.

The sports venue has chosen Absen LED technology to deliver content and enhance the overall fan experience.

Absen provided a complete LED display solution including two score boards and a center-hung LED display which consists of eight individual video screens in the main arena, and another score board in the training area of the facility.

Sasha Liu, the Absen sales director in charge of the CIS market said:

The Crystal Ice Arena is one of the host sports venues of Winter Universiade 2019 and Absen was involved in the integrated AV system design of this facility from the very beginning. It has been a great experience on a stadium project.

With the state-of-the-art technology and professional service from Absen, this installation has been a complete success. I am sure it will continue to provide the best in LED display technology for the Winter Universiade games and more other matches in the future.

The configuration of the centre-hung LED display features four 5.25 x 3m main screens and another four 2.25 x 3m screens which can be raised and lowered on an Absen custom hoist system.

During the event, the four larger screens will mainly highlight live video and instant replays of the competitions and the smaller ones present the team and scoring information.

The whole center-hung LED system is capable of playing various content like graphics, animations and sponsor advertisements and beyond. High level of contrast ratio and fresh rate ensures exceptional visual performance even on cameras.

To enable each and every spectator not to miss any match information, two 6 x 3.75m HD scoreboards were mounted on the walls behind the sitting area at the two ends of the court, showing up-to-minute statistics and notices etc. Another 6 x 3.75m video board installed in the training area is complementary to delivering match information and public messages etc.

With a proven reputation for providing high quality products, Absen has been selected by a lot of stadiums and arenas for delivering the ultimate sports experience.

The winning LED solutions from Absen were leveraged during the World Cup in Russia in three host arenas including the Kazan Arena, Rostov Arena and Kaliningrad Stadium.

Staged every two years in a different city, the Winter Universiade is an international student and youth competition.

The 11-day event will welcome 100,000 spectators and see nearly 3,000 student athletes from over 50 countries and regions compete for 76 sets of awards across 11 sports including alpine skiing, bandy, biathlon, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, short track, ski orienteering and snowboarding.
