Bleep secures contract for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games

Bleep UK PLC, the UK-based designer, manufacturer and supplier of touch-screen EPOS systems, have announced this week that they have secured the contract for the EPOS systems at the in-venue retail stores for the Rio 2016 Olympics.

The Bleep EPOS system is being installed from May onwards in the official merchandise stores in Rio and three other cities in Brazil, covering 80 sites, across 37 venues and the event runs from August 5 to 21, 2016. The stores will be selling a range of products and merchandise to visitors from across the globe, such as cuddly versions of the Rio 2016 Olympic & Paralymipic mascots Vinicius and Tom, pin badges, mugs, magnets, towels, shirts, caps and more.

Bleep secured this prestigious contract largely on the back of the success they had at the London 2012 Olympic Games, but also after supplying a number of world-class events and stadia over the past four years, including the FIFA 2014 World Cup, the Open Championship, the Rugby World Cup 2015, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff and then, later in the summer, UEFA EURO 2016.

The TS-915 Touch Screen Terminals, complete with integrated built in laser scanner and bespoke software will be installed across all locations, alongside Ingenico EFT devices and thermal receipt printers. Each terminal will feature a customer-facing POS Media video display to engage with customers at the point-of-sale in the form of upselling and advertisements from sponsors and partners. All terminals will report back to Bleep’s cloud-based Web Back Office, allowing for real-time, live, sales information, from any outlet.

Fast transactions are an essential requirement and Bleep can boast they can be processed in as little as 3 seconds, to ensure a quick and efficient customer experience in environments where high footfalls are predicted, as well as offering a variety of payment methods, including contactless and Apple Pay. While transactions have to be quick, it is also imperative they are secure and accurate at all times, something Bleep have proven well capable of at a number of high profile sporting events in recent times. In addition to transaction speed, reliability, accuracy, efficiency and the high quality data capture and complete control over all aspects of the operation, provided by Web Back Office, are other benefits.

John Wellman, Chairman of Bleep UK PLC commented:

Supplying our second consecutive Olympic Games is a dream come true for Bleep UK PLC. It is a great honour to supply this global event on the back of our success in London four years ago. The fact that we have been asked to supply an event of this magnitude over 5000 miles away speaks volumes about what we have achieved in the events and stadia industries in recent years. We pride ourselves on supplying the gold standard of EPOS systems and look forward to contributing to the success of another Olympic Games.
