City and club form commission to work on upgrading Naples stadium

Napoli Football Club President Aurelio De Laurentiis and Naples Mayor Mayor Luigi De Magistris have agreed to put the future of the San Paolo stadium in the hands of a bilateral commission set up by the Naples Council and Napoli FC. De Magistris told Gazetta dello Sport:

It will be unique, like the Neapolitans.

De Laurentiis confirmed that the club will stay at a renovated stadium, which De Magistris agreed must be multipurpose and not just for one game per fortnight. A museum is one option the commission will consider.

De Laurentiis indicated that Napoli is looking for the rights to ownership of the stadium and the adjacent zones so it can invest to upgrade it to top European standards. This will make way for private investment rather than any city money being required.
