Ebbsfleet Stadium revamp project receives green light

Ebbsfleet United FC (“Fleet”) have been granted full planning permission for the redevelopment of the Stonebridge Road Stand and outline planning approval for the other three sides of the ground.

Gravesham Borough Council’s committee were unanimous in their decision to grant approval, although some minor conditions remain, which will be attended to in various planned meetings.

Work can now begin on what will be the club’s new Main Stand; with tenders from selected contractors having been received at the end of last month, and following discussions with the selected builder(s), work is likely to commence at the end of this month.

Fleet Vice Chairman, Peter Varney, told FleetOnline:

This is a major step in the future progression of this football club. I’d like to thank, in particular, the design team who have been fantastic and also note the help and support of the council members in the vote. Also, credit to Peter Price and his planning team who have worked tirelessly on the details to enable us to get to this point.

The stadium proposal was fifth on the Council’s agenda but the chairman decided to bring it forward to the beginning due to the number of Fleet fans packing the public gallery.

“It’s another example of how enthusiastic the supporters are,” said Varney after the council meeting. “They’ve been behind us home and away and off the field too!”
