Kai Tak Stadium to be showcased at this month’s Stadia & Arena Asia Pacific

Alastair Graham, Director, KPMG Hong Kong & Programme Manager for the Kai Tak Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, will give an in-depth introduction to the exciting new 50,000-seat sports complex planned for the country.

Kai Tak Stadium is a proposed multi-purpose sports stadium to be built at the site of Kai Tak Airport in Kowloon, Hong Kong, which will feature a retractable roof and be used for international sporting and entertainment events.

AECOM was engaged by the Civil Engineering and Development Department of HKSAR to undertake the Kai Tak Development project in early 2007. And the Finance Committee of Hong Kong’s Legislative Council has already approved HK$62.7m (US$8.1m) in pre-construction funds.

In addition to the 50,000-capacity stadium, the complex will also include office, commercial and retail space, and public recreation, as well as a smaller sports ground (5,000-capacity) and a 4,000-capacity indoor arena.

The project is said to come with a HK$23bn price tag and is slated to open in 2020.
