Saints ballpark design deal

The City of St. Paul has awarded the design-build contract for the St. Paul Saints ballpark to Ryan Cos. The fee for the design element, to be completed separately, is $1.72 million. Budget for the ballpark was set at $54 million. The city said that the stadium construction contract will be finalised after design is complete.

Mayor Chris Coleman said.

We are officially ready to get started on cleaning up the site and creating the final design for the ballpark. We believe that Ryan Companies can help us create a reality for this ballpark that is better than what we could have hoped for.

The ballpark project received $25 million in state funds last year as part of a bonding bill.

The new ballpark will be located at Fifth Street and Broadway Street and will replace the vacant Diamond Products/Gillette building. Demolition is scheduled for this summer, and construction for this autumn. The ballpark is expected to be complete by spring 2015.
