The venues in Sochi hosting the Winter Olympic Games have gathered only positive reactions from athletes and fans. The broadcasters also love the colourful and dynamic skins of the coastal cluster facilities. A different view was offered by a more distant spectator, the International Space Station in low earth orbit.
One of the Expedition 38 crew members aboard the International Space Station downlinked a vertical 600mm night view of Sochi, Russia, which clearly shows the site of the 2014 Winter Olympics. Fisht Stadium where the Opening Ceremonies were held is easily recognisable as the bright circular structure.
