There are just a few days to go until the FSB trade fair and 25th International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS) congress kicks off in Cologne, Germany.
The Who’s Who of the sports and leisure facility industry will converge on the city from the 7th to 10th November.
Every two years, Cologne becomes the global centre for sports, playground, swimming pool and leisure facilities.
At the leading international trade fair FSB, upcoming trends are brought to life, momentum is generated for the industry, new products and ideas are presented to a large trade audience and the most important business deals and contacts of the year are made.
Alongside FSB, IAKS will be holding its 25th international congress for the design, construction, modernisation and management of sports and leisure facilities.
Both events are devoted to link global trends with developments of the industry.
In 2017, the IAKS congress is focusing on the difficulties municipal governments in particular face as they try to maintain a healthy environment. New approaches to funding, project delivery and sustainable operations are critical to address this challenging shift.
The 2017 IAKS Congress programme will feature a number of sessions allowing for presentation, round-table discussions and workshops.
Participation by experts in planning, design, construction and operations will help foster an international exchange about new ideas and strategies, and facilitate a meaningful and insightful transfer of knowledge.
The Congress addresses current topics and trends in sports and leisure facilities. These include, among others, safety, sustainability and economic issues, for both sports stadia and small community facilities.
An Award Gala will take place on 7 November when the presentation of the IOC IPC IAKS architecture awards will be taking place.
This commendation of sports and leisure facilities embodying exemplary design and function has developed into the Oscars for the industry.
