As the FIFA World Cup 2014 kicked off in Brazil last week, fans from all over the world tuned in to watch their sporting heroes, with a further c.3 million visitors expected in the host venues themselves. Beside the action on the field, many of the fans can also enjoy the comfort of sitting in STECHERT seats.
In honour of the Brazilian “samba-culture”, host stadia in Recife, Curitiba, Manaus and Cuiabá were equipped with colourful models of STECHERT’s COPACABANA (Red Dot Design Award Honourable Mention), BERLIN (also used in the Olympiastadion Berlin), as well as their new KANGO Smart seats. Almost 200,000 seats have been installed in total, ensuring unique seating comfort, with top matches, like Australia vs. Spain (Curitiba), England vs. Italy (Manaus), as well as Germany vs. USA (Recife) being played in these stadiums.
Franz Stegner, Directing Manager of STECHERT, travelled to Brazil a few weeks ago to get an impression of the actual state of affairs. Together with the company’s Brazilian partner “Kango Brasil”, Mr. Stegner visited all four 2014 FIFA World Cup stadiums that are equipped with their products. Additionally, the training stadium in Belo Horizonte was provided with almost 18,000 seats from STECHERT.
Mr. Stegner commented:
In terms of design and quality, the arenas in Brazil do not have to hide behind European standards. We are proud that our premium-quality products proved popular in Brazil and that we can contribute to these successful building projects. I am firmly convinced that the fans can celebrate wonderful football parties, in state-of-the-art stadiums, on first-class seats this summer.
By equipping one-third of the 2014 FIFA World Cup venues, STECHERT – a family-run company based in Franconia, Germany – will strengthen its position as a leader in the stadium seating sector, building on from their successes at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where most of the visitors took their seats on the company’s products.
