A number of the world’s key sports venue projects will be unveiled at Stadia & Arena this September, where attendees will enjoy unprecedented access to members of the design teams and client representatives.

With the event’s backdrop being the new Singapore Sports Hub, delegates will benefit from a behind-the-scenes tour of the venue and also hear insights from members of the design team and client on the key issues that guided the venue’s design. Speakers on the Sports Hub project are: Clive Lewis, Associate Director, Arup Associates; Teoh Hai Pin, Director, DP Architects; Jonathan Rose; Principal Design & Planning, AECOM; and Poh Yu Khing, Deputy Director, SportsHub Pte Ltd.

The design team and client representative for the Singapore Sports Hub will provide insights into the project.

Ronnie Hurst, Project Director, the new Perth Stadium, WA Dept of Sport & Recreation

The new Perth Stadium – building a ‘fans first’ stadium for the fans of today and tomorrow. Presented by: Ronnie Hurst, Project Director, WA Dept. of Sport & Recreation. The new 60,000-seat Perth Stadium is the biggest single piece of sporting infrastructure ever delivered in Western Australia. The ‘fans first’ approach to the design influenced a number of initial design decisions during evolution of the Project Definition Plan. Ronnie will provide an overview of the process to date, the key design decisions and the ongoing input of User Groups through the delivery process.

Andrew James, Senior Principal, Populous and Project Director for the Philippine Arena.

Philippine Arena – the world’s largest arena. Presented by: Andrew James, Senior Principal, Populous. When it opens later this year, the Philippine Arena will be the world’s largest indoor arena with a capacity of 50,000 inside the building, plus a further 50,000 to gather at a ‘live site’ outside to share in major events. Andrew will talk about how the boundaries of arena design have been pushed in creating a building with such a large capacity.

David Manica, President, MANICA Architecture and Project Director on the Shantou Sports Park.

Shantou Sport Park: The future of multi-use sport, conference, and hospitality in China. Presented by: David Manica, President, MANICA Architecture. David will discuss in detail this 50,000sqm Park, which includes a small multi-use arena; a natatorium with competitive Olympic swimming pool; sport and fitness training facilities; a flexible grand conference hall; a 200-room boutique hotel; and an underground car park.

Mr Yoshihiro Kizawa, Vice President & Executive Director, Japan Sports Council.

Japan’s New National Stadium Project. Presented by: Yoshihiro Kizawa, Vice President & Executive Director, Japan Sport Council. The centrepiece of Japan’s huge programme of venue development will be a new national stadium, scheduled for completion in 2019. Mr Kizawa will discuss the plans for the project and its goal of being a shrine for sport.
