Following on from last week’s announcment of the main contractor for the Al Rayyan Stadium – a proposed host venue for matches through to the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™ – further project details have been confirmed.
Liverpool FC has revealed designs for two new concourses in the expanded Main Stand, giving fans a glimpse of the state-of-the-art facilities they can look forward to next season.
The KSS-designed concourses celebrate Liverpool fans and their passion for the Club with artwork taking inspiration from the scarves and flags held high when the Reds play. Throughout the new space, the history of the Club is reflected in wall graphics displaying the most famous moments in the Club’s illustrious past.
Another unique feature includes a central seating area with some of the original 1906 seating incorporated into the new break out spaces offering a permanent reference to the existing stand. The Main Stand boundary wall, built even before football was played at Anfield, will also be recognised in its original location through a permanent tribute.
Both the colour scheme and materials have been inspired by Anfield’s architecture and the city of Liverpool honouring its industrial and maritime heritage.
The new concourses will be the biggest at Anfield and will be open to all fans with a ticket for the Main Stand providing fantastic new facilities for fans to enjoy in the largest all-seater stand in Europe.

Over the last few months, the Main Stand redevelopment at Liverpool FC’s Anfield stadium has continued at pace, with completion expected during the 2016/17 Premier League season.
KSS have been working in partnership with Jacobs and Planit on the design, which is keeping the traditional four stand configuration of Anfield. The existing Main Stand seating tier will be retained with new middle and upper tiers under construction.
The first major milestone was reached in July 2015, with the lifting of the 650 tonne roof truss, and in recent weeks the upper tier concrete terrace has been completed.
The expanded stand will enable more fans to experience the unique atmosphere at Anfield and become a part of the famous ‘Anfield Roar’.
Once complete, the Main Stand will become one of the largest all-seater single stands in Europe’s top flights, with over 20,000 fans creating a sea of noise, Anfield’s very own ‘Red Wall’.
Next season will mark another exciting chapter for the Club’s spiritual home, a ground laced in the fabric of football folklore and a beacon not only for the city of Liverpool, but for the whole of English football.
