Stoke City has engaged Showsec for its big matches at the Britannia Stadium during the 2013-14 campaign. Showsec’s Managing Director Mark Harding said:
The Britannia Stadium is renowned for having one of the best atmospheres in English football and our matchday operation will set out to ensure that remains so for all supporters who are visiting the ground this season. Our commitment is to providing the right support to football clubs, so they offer a safe, enjoyable experience for fans.
Stoke’s Health and Safety Manager Rob Killingworth drew on previous experience of working with Showsec when he turned to them for crowd management support for the Boothen End of the ground this season. Killingworth said:
I was impressed with what I saw of them in operation in my time at Nottingham Forest and Notts County, so I knew they offered what we were looking for in terms of experience and expertise. Showsec have excellent supervisors who are very switched on to our needs in terms of crowd management while the other thing that they are particularly good at is communication which is so important operationally.
Showsec has recently received a record rating in the UK Security Industry Authority’s ‘Approved Contractor Scheme’ for an eighth successive year. A rigorous three-day assessment of the company’s operation resulted in the award of a score of 132, putting them in the top five per cent of security companies in the United Kingdom. Harding commented:
This assessment provides a good benchmark of how the company progresses year-on-year, so it is extremely satisfying for everyone that we have achieved our highest-ever score yet again – the eighth year in a row we have done so. Showsec delivers 97% of its business through its own staff. Our clients can be assured therefore that the standards achieved through ACS are directly reflected in the product which we deliver to them.
