Global leaders in Live Event Strategy, Fan Engagement and Hospitality join forces to set new standards at the new Atlético de Madrid Stadium.

Club Atlético de Madrid is pleased to announce the selection of CenterplateISG, a joint-venture partnership between global leaders Centerplate and International Stadia Group (ISG), to design and manage all food service, premium ticket sales and marketing at their new stadium, currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2016.

For CenterplateISG, this is the first contract in the Spanish market, and will provide unparalleled food and beverage hospitality services to Atlético Madrid fans and proven solutions to premium ticket sales and marketing. CenterplateISG has been working alongside Atlético de Madrid to ensure the Club’s fans enjoy a tailored world-class experience at the new stadium. By creating integrated alignment between team, ticketing and the match day experience, this joint venture will bring the football fan experience of the 21st Century to La Liga.

CenterplateISG will conduct customized market and fan research that will enable Atlético de Madrid to create the ideal mix of hospitality experiences tailored to appeal to a wide variety of fan preferences throughout the stadium. The outputs of that work will include:
• Dedicated fan hospitality areas inside and outside the stadium
• Integrated infrastructure and interior design
• Customer relationship management programs
• Customized menu development

Through its services CenterplateISG will identify and deliver sustainable revenue streams, providing Atletico de Madrid with stable returns.

Andrew Hampel, CEO of ISG, said:

We at ISG have seen many stadium projects around the globe and we are extremely proud of the agreement now established between Atlético de Madrid and CenterplateISG. With all of the key ingredients already in place, and construction under way, ISG is confident that the new stadium will be a huge success for Atletico’s fans and become a “must visit” venue for sporting fans and tourists alike. ISG has been working with Atlético Madrid since 2011 to ensure the new stadium has a range of hospitality experiences that truly matches the unique nature of the local market and the fans of Atlético.

Des Hague, CEO of Centerplate, continued:

Atlético de Madrid can rightly claim some of the best football fans in the world, and we are thrilled to design and manage a world-class fan experience for everyone who sets foot inside their new stadium. We anticipate huge synergies in our joint venture with ISG; this is the first time that we have seen complete alignment of interests between the Club, the ticket sales strategy and the delivery of the fan experience – we believe that this will prove to be the way forward for all sports and entertainment venues.

Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, CEO of Atlético de Madrid, added:

As we embark on a new era for Atlético Madrid and our supporters, we searched around the world for the best partners for our new stadium, and we can say with confidence that when it comes to hospitality, fan experience, research and stadium design, we are bringing our fans the very best.

Closed Loop & Coveris create Closed Loop Plastic Cup Programme for UK sports venues

Closed Loop Environmental Solutions (CLES) and plastic packaging manufacturer Coveris have won a major contract with foodservice company Delaware North to establish closed loop programmes for plastic cups at one of their key UK sports venues; Emirates Stadium.

An initial 750,000 plastic cups made using a minimum 50% recycled PET from CLES’s sister company, Closed Loop Recycling, will be supplied by Coveris to Delaware North, with the volume expected to ultimately rise to in excess of two-million per year. After use, the pint and half pint cups, which are all compatible with a closed loop programme, will be collected to be recycled again at Closed Loop Recycling’s Dagenham plant. The initiative is the first of a number of major food service contract wins for CLES.

CLES was launched in the UK to continue the work of Closed Loop in Australia, which has been pioneering closed loop programmes since the Sydney Olympics in 2000. The project is part of the company’s focus on the hospitality and foodservice sector to supply sustainable food and beverage packaging, which can be recovered under a ‘closed loop’ system.

Swindon FC’s County Ground does ten-year catering deal

Comments Off on Swindon FC’s County Ground does ten-year catering deal

Swindon Town Football Club and Lindley Venue Catering have signed up to a new £13 million, 10 year deal which will see Lindley’s current public matchday catering remit extended to driving all aspects of matchday and non matchday catering, as well as event management at the 15,728 capacity County Ground stadium.

Lindley Venue Catering, which recently became part of the US-based global hospitality provider Centerplate, has had a catering team established at the County Ground since 2009 when it entered into a £1.25 million five-year venture. Steve Murrall, General Manager at Swindon Town FC, said:

Over the past four years we have seen the significant benefits that Lindley Venue Catering’s experience and expertise in stadia catering has brought to our retail operation on matchdays, and we now welcome the opportunity to extend and cement our relationship with the Lindley team as we take another major step forward in putting the County Ground on the map – not just in terms of enhancing the matchday catering experience for our fans and visitors, but also attracting non matchday business and generating incremental revenue which we can then reinvest in the club.

Jonathan Davies, The Lindley Group’s Sales & Marketing Director, added:

Working with the management and in-house team at Swindon Town FC has given us an invaluable insight into their vision for developing the club and the facilities at the County Ground, and we are keen to play a role in helping the club realise their plans and ambitions for the future.
