Temple of football for AEK Athens

AEK Athens is developing a new stadium in Piraeus to be “a temple of football and of Greek sport” according to owner Demetri Melissanidi. With external facades reminiscent of classical architecture, the stadium has a grand central entrance and a fabric roof supported on four corner towers. There are two tiers in the bowl, 1200 VIP seats, 40 suites and underground parking for 400-500.

The area of 65,000 sqm will achieve UEFA 4-star status with a capacity of 32,500-34,000. It will host both AEK Athens and New Philadelphia. Initial plans indicate a December 2015 completion.
