The Venue Management Association (VMA), based in Queensland, Australia, is searching for a new Chief Executive to develop and implement its strategic plan.
The recruitment process follows the resignation of current CEO Steve Romer in September, after three and a half years in the job.
The VMA is dedicated to the growth and success of the venue management industry in the Asia Pacific region, engaging through professional development, education and networking platforms.
It draws from the very best talent in the venue industry, providing members with the opportunity to expand their thinking, upgrade their skills, stay ahead of industry trends/plans and learn from their peers.
Reporting directly to the VMA Board, the role represents an exciting opportunity to lead a settled management team in the delivery of services to an impressive membership portfolio of venues from Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia, which includes major sports stadiums, arenas, conference and exhibition centres, performing arts centres, race tracks and showgrounds.
With a focus on expanding the 700+ membership base, the role would suit either a candidate from within the Venue Industry or an innovative leader from a member-based association background.
It will require applicants to demonstrate a range of complementary skills, qualifications and experience in a similar environment.
Ideally, this would include:
- Financial reporting (to Board Level);
- Management and growth of a membership base;
- Collaborative and hands-on leadership;
- Successful implementation of innovative marketing campaign(s);
- Relationship building;
- Business planning.
In addition, the CEO will assume overall responsibility in delivery of membership programmes, which include an annual congress, management school(s) and new educational platforms.
The incoming CEO will also represent VMA in managing the relationship with various international associations, including US and Asian partners.
With this role currently based on the Gold Coast, the VMA Board is prepared to consider relocation costs in addition to a total salary package range of A$120,000-150,000 per annum. Additionally, this role will require regular domestic and international travel.
