Widening tennis event experience at the O2

The Barclays ATP World Tour Final once again descended on London this autumn. Alongside the professionals, the O2 hosted a Barclays ATP World Tour Finals Fan Zone.

Blackout supplied its drapes and rigging services across the venue, primarily working with Detail Management to provide truss structures and roof/walling systems for brand experience booths in the Fan Zone on the O2’s main concourse.

To extend the visual experience even further Blackout also provided the screen support for a large LED screen which showed highlights of the sport and became the focal point of the area. There was just three days for Blackout to complete the task, using a total of a truck and a half of truss. Tom Lambert, Blackout’s Project Manager, commented:

The Fan Zone, which is open to the general public, is a key part of the ATP’s offering each year. It gives fans access to exclusive interactive experiences from sponsors as well as the LTA’s mini-tennis court and – new for this year – Holding Court Live where live broadcasts were made throughout the tournament.

This year’s event was the biggest and best to date with sell out audiences of over 250,000 and the most broadcast coverage yet. It was therefore vital that every element was delivered to the highest specification, in line with the organisers and sponsors’ high standards.

Elsewhere in the venue Blackout used its popular Pipe & Drape system to construct the player’s tunnel, which led the tennis stars into the main court.
