West Virginia University’s (WVU) project to install a new, upgraded video board at the WVU Coliseum has been completed.
The WVU Coliseum – one of the US’s premier showcases for college basketball – has introduced the state-of-the-art digital multimedia technologies to offer a cohesive arena presentation and fan experience.
The new set-up includes: nearly 2,500ft2 of 6mm LED across a custom, multi-faceted centre-hung scoreboard, in-bowl fascia ribbons, and the venue’s sound and lighting systems. Overall, the new centre-hung in the Coliseum – which ANC custom designed in collaboration with WVU – will add nearly 2.75 times more LED than the current fixture with the main video screen being almost double in size.
Upgrades are also taking place at the 60,000 capacity Milan Puskar Stadium, home of Mountaineer football, where a substantially larger 44ft x 134ft south endzone 16mm Surface Mount (SMD) LED videoboard is being installed, increasing the current board’s footprint by 20ft in height and 50ft in length.
Upgraded east and west ribbon displays are also being added. Boasting 8,500ft2 of LED, the new multimedia displays will showcase the action on the field, and in between plays, in grander fashion and higher quality.
Display content within both venues will be seamlessly synchronized and operated by ANC’s award-winning vSOFT operating system.
WVU director of athletics and associate vice president Shane Lyons said:
Through our partnership with ANC, maximising their decades-long experience in creating cohesive fan experiences, we’re highlighting that the fans are an integral part of West Virginia University and its athletics program.
These new boards are the next steps in modernizing our venues and giving us additional flexibility to create an exciting game experience. Not only will our fans love the upgrades, but they will totally enhance the look of the two venues.
