Rugby Football Union CEO Ian Ritchie is the latest industry leader to have confirmed his participation in this year’s Soccerex Global Convention taking place on 6-10 September in Manchester.
Ritchie, who has more than 30 years’ experience across business, media and sport, has previously served as CEO of the All-England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, independent non-executive director on the Board of the Football League and member of the Wembley Stadium Board. With FIFA President Joseph Blatter and British Olympic Association Chairman Lord Coe also confirmed for the Convention, Manchester will be welcoming the world of sport to its doors for five days of learning, networking and business.
The former Channel 5 chief executive’s attendance at the Convention represents an opportunity for two of the world’s most popular sports to exchange ideas and share best practice around the areas of commercial development, coaching standards and international expansion. Major event delivery will also be on the agenda as the RFU continue in their preparations to host the 2015 Rugby World Cup; the Convention will provide an opportunity for the world to be updated on the event’s progress and the challenges faced thus far.
Soccerex CEO Duncan Revie said:
Ian is one of the world’s most experienced and skilled sporting administrators and represents the calibre of speakers we will have at the event. Having worked across multiple sporting organisations and media outlets, he will be able to discuss a number of key areas that are crucial to the development of the sports industry.
Ian Ritchie joins an ever-growing list of confirmed names for the Global Convention including FIFA President Joseph Blatter, FIFA Vice-President Jim Boyce, British Olympic Association Chairman Lord Coe and England and Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton.
