
The Lexington Center Corporation Board of Directors has unveiled a renovation plan for Rupp Arena that will separate the 37-year-old home of Kentucky men’s basketball from the adjoining convention center, which will be expanded.
Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear said:
It needs to be a state-of-the-art facility.
NBBJ has got the design job and Hunt Construction Group the construction. The renovation is expected to take place between fall 2014 and fall 2016.
The 23,500-seat capacity will be retained, chair-back seats installed throughout and concourses expanded. There will be a new scoreboard – picture courtesy of NBBJ.
