Singapore has retained its position as Asia’s top convention city for the 12th year running, according to the latest Global Rankings by the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).
In 2013, Singapore hosted a record 175 ICCA events, a 16.7 per cent increase from 150 events in 2012, achieving the strongest year-on-year growth since 2005.
The accolade comes off the back of the recent visitor arrival figures, revealing that 1,125,000 travellers from Australia visited the island city-state from January to December 2013.
Sharon Lam, Area Director Oceania of the Singapore Tourism Board, said:
We are privileged to retain our position as the leading convention city in Asia for the 12th consecutive year We’re glad that Singapore continues to earn the confidence and trust of meeting planners and delegates. Building on Singapore’s strength as an international meeting destination, we want to continue encouraging Australian business visitors to explore all that Singapore has to offer outside of the meeting room.
Stadia & Arena Asia Pacific is just one such event being held in the country’s new Singapore Sports Hub this September, 24-26. For further information, see: www.saevents.uk.com
