Three consortia have been invited to make tender submissions for the contract for the design, construction and operation of the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong’s Home Affairs Bureau invited applicants interested in tendering for the contract to participate in the pre-qualification exercise between April and July this year, and received a total of six applications.
After assessment, three pre-qualified tenderers have been invited to submit tenders for the second stage of the tendering exercise. The tender closing date is June 29, 2018.
The three consortia are understood to include an Alibaba Group subsidiary, New World Development and Dragages Hong Kong, a subsidiary of France’s Bouygues Construction.
The Kai Tak Sports Park will be located on the former site of the Kai Tak airport in South East Kowloon.
The current Design, Build and Operate scheme includes a 50,000-seat, retractable roofed stadium, a public sports ground with seats for at least 5,000 and an indoor arena with 10,000 seats.
The main stadium in Kai Tak Sports Park would host at least 10 football matches annually, as well as around 30 concerts and other events.
